Hi,

I'm doing a tensile simulation test with CPE3 elements in EXPLICIT, a time period in 0.1.

In order to save time, I tried mass scaling options by changing "scale to target time increment of " to 1e-6, 5e-6, 1e-7, respectively, and "frequency" to every 1 increment.

However, each simulation results are quite different and the ALLKE/ALLKIE was much higher than 5% at the beginning increments.

So I'm looking for suggestions about how to calibrate the mass scaling factors in order to have reasonable results?

Having been working on this for days, appreciate the help!

In such case you should further decrease the target time increment, use different scaling method or modify the mesh to avoid problematic elements that result in low stable time increment.
 
Thanks, @FEA way! Could you please briefly introduce how should I implement other scaling methods? What I know is just the semi-automatic mass scaling...
 
Semi-automatic mass scaling is sufficient for this case but there are several ways of defining it. You can scale throughout the step (variable mass scaling) or only once, at the beginnining of the step (fixed mass scaling). For the latter option it's possible to specify scaling factor intead of target time increment. What's more, both variable and fixed mass scaling can be applied to selected set instead of the whole model (you can scale some problematic elements).
