I have material AISI 4340 and need to welding repair becuase it Crack at near weldment depth 10-15 mm

crack after quenching . in my process is welding and then Stress relief and then Quenching and after that Crack !!

base metal 50 mm. fillet weld about 6-8 layer

i need recommand about detail to do WPS

i am a young engineer if who can recommand relly thank you

To get better responses to your post, please provide more specific information on how you welded the 4340 steel. What type of post weld heat treatment was performed?
 
GTAW by weldmold 919
Thermal stress relief +Quenching by oil+tempering
cooling in air

 
You can weld repair using either option below if suitable;

(1) No re-heat treatment. You can perform the weld repair and post weld heat treat to 20 deg C below the original tempering temperature for the 4340 steel (if it was originally heat treated).

(2) If this is a weld repair prior to final heat treatment, I would perform the weld repair, and go right into heat treatment - austenitize treatment, followed by oil quench and then temper. The weld metal should be a Cr-Mo-Ni alloy to respond similar to heat treatment as the 4340 steel.
