Dear Colleagues,
I need information about the best material to be used for the shot blasting procedure and if possible the chemical and mechanical details as well as the procedure of work.
Many thanks

There isn't one single best material. The best material is a function of work material (tool steel, low carbon steel, etc.), what is to be removed (paint, oxides, etc.), and many other factors. That being said, aluminium oxide powder is a popular choice and works well. For the procedure, it is straightforward. First, use an appropriate device (an enclosed chamber to keep everything clean, or just a big hose connected to the pump if you are outside and don't care so much about cleaning. Next, electrically ground the part to prevent charge accumulation. Then, blast the work piece with the abrasive.

Cory
