Does anyone know of a company that makes a speed control for small DC motors that has a 115 VAC input and a 12 or 24 VDC regulated output? This would be for motors that use less than 2 amps.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Series DC motors are to certain degree self-regulating.
What are the specs you need? Do yopu plan to use any
speed sensor or just back- EMF ?

Nothing fancy, I just want to take a small gear motor and power a electroplating barrel assy. I need to vary the speed of the cylinder in the assy between 4 and 9 RPM. I would get a DC gearmotor and use the appropriate gearing to do that. The barrel needs to plug into 115 VAC.
I am sure it is not rocket science, but I can't find such a controller.
Dart makes one that uses 24 VAC and converts it to 24 VDC, but then I would need a transformer, and I don't have enough room for both.

I think you can still get a 0..12V/2A speed controller for model railroads at a hobby shop. Buy two; they're not going to last forever in a plating shop.

The switching power supply with amp (powered from DC) would be cheaper for such low power motors.
