Remember in r-14 you had direct access (thru the dim dialog)to various kinds of dimensioning (linear, angular, radial...) and could change variables for a particular dimensioning type without affecting the others? I'm confident there's still a way to do this in 2002, but its just not obvious to me. I COULD go back and research the individual dimensioning variables, but that seems to defeat the purpose of the new and improved dialog box approach.

Also- anyone seen the dimensioning dialog in 2004 yet? has it been "improved"?

In autocadd 2000 you can invoke properties, pick the dimension that you want to change and override the actual dimension with any number you wish to use.

Interesting question, never seen it asked before. I usually double click the dimension and modify the scale factor, turn off an extention line, etc. through properties.
I'm pretty sure there isn't a button you can click on to overide dim variables like in r14 though.

Yes, The nearest thing to this once available yet very useful tool, is the ability now to create an "override". In r-14 however, you could actually collect the sum of the settings you wanted as you go along and build them into a dimensioning style for coordinated use or distribution, or change a series of settings for just one dimensioning type (radial, linear, angular...) without affecting the others within the same overall style.

I'm really disappointed that this and some other changes happen as "improvements" leaving us with only work-arounds as alternatives. Yes you can change a particular dimension thru properties, but I'd rather not have to go through that extra set of steps, except in those instances where its appropriate to do a series of dimensions, and only modify one aspect of a couple that need to vary. I'll be even more curious to see what other "improvements" are in store with r-2004. Any feedback yet from early adopters?
