Dear All,

I am working in a power plant construction project as QA/QC Engineer. To review the radiography films of various pressure parts should I refer ASME Section I or B 31.1 ?

Kindly help.

Radiography (RT) acceptance requirements for either Section I or B31.1 Power Piping depend on the component. For example, if you review Section I, it describes the boundary where Section I would have technical and administrative jurisdiction. This means the RT requirements in Section I would take precedence. If you are working on boiler external piping or non boiler external piping, B31.1 NDT acceptance requirements would apply.

tekari123,
Please do not take this personally but if you are a QA/QC Engineer what are you doing asking on an internet forum what code you are working to ?
Part of your scope of work is to ensure the compliance with relevant codes - these codes should be detailed in contract documents, project specifications, line lists etc.
Metengr has given his usual sound advice but let me take it a bit further.
What is the construction code ? If it is built in accordance with Section 1 then that is your acceptance criteria and if it is built in accordance with B31.1 then again, that is your acceptance criteria.
Both Section 1 and B31.1 give detailed diagrams of which jurisdiction applies to what - strongly suggest you start familiarising yourself with both codes,
Regards,
DD
