Isn't Excel pretty much the default? Do you have some special application that Excel can't solve?

Otherwise, You're looking for something like Quickbooks? to generate billing, payroll, and tax documents as well?

Probably should be in the Business Practices forum. However, I use Intuit Quickbooks Online. I dislike Intuit with a passion (their business practices are terrible), but the online version def. has been a game changer for me as far as speed of invoicing, portability and integration with my bookkeeper.

I've always thought QuickBooks was probably the way to do.

My old boss was somehow involved in the development of BQE which was more targeted towards engineers. I think he was an investor, or on their board of directors or something. Honestly, I don't know much about it. However, their website looks like it could be something you'd want to look into.

Josh - where was that when I was looking for it 5 months ago? I settled on HarpoonApp, which is similar but not geared directly to engineers. It's not exactly accounting software (doesn't help you directly with your taxes), but you can set up your income and expense tracking to mirror the books your bookkeeper/accountant use.

PhamENG -

I've never used it. LOL. Honestly, I've never even talked to anyone that's used it. I just know about it because my boss (when I worked for RISA) mentioned in from time to time.

We are a smaller firm and use Quickbooks Online. We tried another software and were happy at first, but it went south very quickly when they forgot to file our taxes.

For project management we are using Monograph.io, it's built mostly for Architects and has some wants for the engineering side, but is steadily improving and at a reasonable cost.
