We have a plotter that is accurate but getting old and getting hard to find parts for. We have sent many files out for test plots by the plotter vendors but most were not accurate enough. Has any one found a 36" or 48" wide plotter that they like and that works well from a roll on .020 thick mylar, if so please let me know before ours dies.

My HP 488CA Designjet prints 36" wide, and I find that its factory settings make its plots accurate to 1/16" in 6 feet. It has an option to calibrate, but since it's good enough for me, I haven't played with it. Not sure if HP still makes the 488...

We have an HP DesignJet 800, and it works great. One thing to keep in mind though. Before any high quality mylars are plotted, you MUST calibrate the plotter prior to plotting the mylar.
