Can anyone verify if the provisions for lap splices is the same in ACI 530 as it is in ACI 318? I have the current 530 and have seen that they changed from 2002. Have they also changed in 318 from 2002 to 2005?
Thanks in advance!

ACI 318-05 development length equations appear to be the same as the 318-02 except they changed the symbols. The resulting lengths should be the same.

scottiesei: Are you asking about ACI 530 MSJC? Their lap length for masonry is different from ACI318 for concrete. I did not get a chance to compare them though, but I suspect for masonry the splice length will be longer.

rt06, I would agree but if we use the new MSJC equation for a grade 60 #5 bar we still come up with 25" (depending on the cover). I believe 318 would give about 30" say in the bottom of a continuous footing.
