In the latest 318 (14) there are no longer any service combinations allowed for design of members.
The service load combinations to use in checking deflections would be found in the applicable building code (IBC) or the ASCE 7.

ACI 318 used to "sort of" include service load combinations for design in the Chapter 1 commentary (See R1.1 of ACI 318-11) but that no longer exists in 14 and later versions.

You could get the service load (Allowable Stress Design or ASD) combinations from ASCE 7-10 or ASCE 7-05. But as JAE pointed out, you can't do anything with them as ACI deleted that approach in ACI 318-02.

Agree with JAE and Jed. Also, based on info from ACI 318 committee members, they *may* remove all references to load combinations in future releases. The only thing that is preventing them is that the ACI 318 is often a standalone "code" used in places around the world that do not have building codes. They feel that they want to give load combination guidance to those engineers who do not have model building codes or ASCE 7.

Huh, and I thought the whole world used the IBC...International Building Code :)
