Hello Experts.
I'm already work with a data sheet of an acid flare KO drum.. It is mentionned that the material used is CS+6mm at 3.5 kg/cm2g design pressure and 150°C design tempertaure.
from your point of view, Is the selected material for those condtion with a fluid containing Acid gas and sour water satisfied???

Usually, the purchaser specifies the corrosion allowance and any special material requirements, and if that is what was specified, I would assume it was adequate. That could vary based on contractual requirements, though. If in doubt, ask the purchaser whose responsibility material selection and CA are.

Dear HOUARI YAHIAOUI,

This is based entirely on the management policy like shutdown frequency, duration of shutdown, etc.

I had worked in a gas plant where they had exactly as per your spec. but later on all acid flare KODs were upgraded with Inconel 600.

The material of CS with 6mm C.A. for the Acid Flare KO Drum can be correct design for the specific process of the acid gas and sour water conditions.
Once the plant operated outside these design conditions, this CS material may not be adequate and needs to be upgraded possibly .

Using CS+3 or 6mm CA may be being penny wise and pound foolish here - the revenue loss from shutdowns due to corrosion concerns may more than pay out for the incremental CAPEX for a decent duplex SS lining ( or better) for this drum, especially since this is a flare drum.
