Hey!

I am trying to analyse wave propagation in a solid (aluminium) in Ansys APDL.
How can I create acoustic boundary conditions at the edges of the solid?? How can I e.g. induce an absorbing boundary to the model?

I would be very pleased about an answer :)

With best regards,

Roman

Hi Roman,

I'm not sure if it's applicable to your problem but you could try putting acoustic elements by your solid and in turn appropriate boundary conditions around them. Please see the Acoustic Analysis Guide.

Best regards,
Jason

Hey Jason,

thanks for your reply.

The problem is that you have to use fluid elements for acoustic problems. I need those boundary conditions for solid elements. Does anyone know how to put those acoustic boundaries on solids? Or do I somehow have to connect solid and fluid elements?

Best regards,
Roman

Hi Roman,

The acoustic and solid bodies could share the same part.

Please see Matrix-Coupled FSI in the Acoustic Analysis Guide.

Best regards,
