Has anybody been successful in automating the application of acoustic coating to submarine hulls?

You might try asking this in sci.military.moderated, but sub guys are pretty secretive.<br><br>Paul<br>___________________________________________________<br>Web-Based Resource for Process Piping Professionals<br>Mailing List: &lt;<A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> &lt;<A HREF=" TARGET="_new">

As far as I know it's still a manual process.
And, Gator, we sub guys prefer the term &quot;silent&quot;, as in &quot;Silent Service&quot; :)

I am puzzled by the silence. About two years ago Tracor published some details of their work on an automated process on the web.

Alot of what goes into building a sub is classified, so even the non-sensitive parts of some aspects get put in the same category, ie. all blueprints, manuals, procedures, etc...
It's kind of a shotgun approach but the machine that makes the machine that does the sensitive stuff could be something we don't want someone else to get.
Basically technology is power, hope that explains a little of the silence. Plus if people aren't sure what is and isn't &quot;secret&quot; they generally fail safe and assume it is.
