I work in the consulting industry for building construction.
I frequently run into design situations where i need to create airtight, moisture resistant seals between typical construction sealants (modified silicones, urethanes, silicone-urethane hybrids) to bitumen membranes (roofing, decking, etc)
these sealants are not compatible with bitumen.
I do know that these sealants are compatible with acrylic paints however.
wondering about the feasibility of applying acrylic paint to the bitumen membrane, then sealant can adhere to the acrylic layer?
my primary concern is the long term durability and adhesion of the acrylic paint to the bitumen membrane.
most applications will typically be in sheltered exterior environments (not exposed to UV, but exposed to temperature fluctuations)
