Hello everybody,
I work on a gas turbine with magnetic bearings installed in Atex zone. Magnetic bearings are the only one electrical component and it is completely immerged in process gas.
I wonder what it the best way for atex certification of the gas turbine assembly:
1) to certify the complete turbine as an "electrical equipment"
2) to certify only the casing (the only part in contact with explosive atmosphere) as a "non electrical equipment"
What do you think? Magnetic bearings are the main ignition source able to heat the casing surface.
Thank you
F
