Can more knowledgable persons please explain because I am not very familiar with details of valves and its dimensions.

For pneumatic actuated valves, would the face to face dimension be the same as a manual valve for a given type of valve, e.g. butterfly type?

I need the information very urgently because for the piping design but unfortunately, the valves have yet to be ordered, but the piping isometrics need to be done.

Appreciate any information, please.

Typically, the actuation simply mounts on the top flange,
and has no impact on face-face dimensions.

Manually operated and power operated valves,
>> from the same manufacturer
>> within the same series
>> with the same trim
typically have the same face to face dimension...
... but there is no law requiring this to be so.

At your apparent level of responsibility, you probably need to get someone in authority to commit to the basic valve dimensions, or to at least verbally accept the business risk that comes with changing valve size/series/trim/mfgr after the pipes have been committed to fabrication.

if you are asking for butterfly valve the face to face to dimension can be as per API 609 catB/ASME 16.10( long pattern) or API 609 catB/ISO 5752( Short pattern),
The face to face dimension for other valves will be as per ASME 16.10.
i think i have cleared for your query.

Differentiate throttling valves from shutdown valves. Normally the valve shutdown valves use the same line class valves as manual valves. Thus the face-to-face should be per the ASME standards. Throttling valves per ISA standards may not match the ASME standards. Some of these issues depend upon the valve purchase specifications.

Regardless, the actuator for a shutdown valve (scotch yoke style) could be substantially larger than the face-to-face. Assure that the piping layout accommodates the actuator including access to any valve mounted control accessories.

further i want to add some more,
now Industries also use IEC 60534-3 standard for face to face dimension

As an American valve manufacturer who has been producing throttling control valves for over half a century, I can safely say that, unless specified differently by the customer, our face to face is governed by ASME B16.10
