Hi friends here,

I'm working on a quad motorcycle model at Adams/View, the model is all setup with 14 DoF. Now I can't find how to make the software "know" for example which parts belongs to the steering system to start setting all the systems and start doing maneuvers for testing and getting data like camber angle change while the suspension travels or to plot lateral acceleration while doing a doble lane changing maneuver, etc.
My question is where to start doing that on Adams/View? Or if it is possible and easier to export the model to Adams/Car?

Thanks for reading.

I don't know if you can export a View model to Car, it seems unlikely. It /may/ be possible to import the compiled .adm file, but then you'd still have to tell Car which component is the steering wheel, etc. So no, that won't work.

So, I can't tell you how to do closed loop driving events in View (even in Car or Chassis they aren't particularly straightforward). Open loop is easy enough, define a speed, and then move your steering wheel with a MOTION statement. For example my most common test is called swept steer, that is just driving at constant speed and then applying a ramp signal to the SWA.

Double lane change is a limit handling test and is hard, but not impossible, to do in ADAMS, even if you are trying to predict whether a given car will roll, or spin, or push, at the limit. However my experience has been that the smart driver software is not actually much use when exploring the limits.
