I have a 57 Ford truck and a wrecked 93 Ford Explorer. I want to mate the electronic 4 wheel drive system on the Explorer to the 57, and mate a V-8 to it. I have 302, 351 and FE series engines available. Does anyone know which the easiest to adapt would be, what needs to be done and if any adapter plates or kits are available?

Also, I may transplant the 57 truck body to the Explorer frame, if easier. Any recommendations?

It's fairly common to see early pickup bodies grafted to late model mid sized pickup chassis. In our neighborhood we have a 40 Chevy on an S-10 something and a 47 Dodge half ton and a 34 Dodge one ton on Ford Ranger chassis. The Ford chassis came from a builder in Florida. Google search???
Try "Bobco Inc." of Lake Elsinore, CA.
If your in the US, go to just about any car show and you will no doubt find several. At least they would be able to point you in the right direction. I am not sure about the 57 but, my new partial sponser has a 54 Ford on a late chassis with a 302 Windsor, Lincoln 9 in. and a Plymouth Duster front suspension. If I were to do a project like this again I would definately someone close to a wrecking yard for my new best friend!
