Adaptive meshing with linear geometry

When I use ALE adaptive meshing in abaqus, I get the following error message when running the analysis:

THE *ADAPTIVE MESH OPTION MAY NOT BE USED IN Abaqus/Standard ANALYSIS STEPS WITH LINEAR GEOMETRY

My model has two flat surfaces in contact, is there anyway I can use adaptive meshing for this model?

Problem solved.

For future reference, and helping others. The solution to this problem was reached as follows:

Nlgeom must be selected on and hourglass controls must be used in the meshing module.

Do u use hex or tet element?
