Adaptivity Mesh

Hi guys,
I'm quite new with the command *ADAPTATIVE MESH and I'm trying to improve my model with this option that is given in ABAQUS. When I just added this line

*ADAPTIVE MESH, ELSET=SOIL_ELE, FREQUENCY=1

to my input file, the analysis datacheck stopped with the following error:

***ERROR: THE *ADAPTIVE MESH OPTION MAY NOT BE USED IN ANALYSIS WITH LINEAR GEOMETRY

The problem is that I don't know what it is meant with linear geomtry??? :-(
I thank you in advance for any suggestion u can provide me

If you're doing this in Standard, I'm guessing that you need to have NLGEOM set on.
