Hello,

I have a PLC OMRON CJ1M - CPU12 with:

An Input Module CJ1W-ID261
An Output Module CJ1W-OD261
An Analog Output CJ1W-DA021

I need to add a new Input module to the PLC (CJ1W-ID201).

I had experience with Allen Bradley, Siemens and Modicon PLC's but I'm lost with the addressing and the configuration to add a new module in this PLC.

If anyone can tell me what I need to do or where I can find some information please contact me.

I am going to assume that you have CX-Programmer to interface with the PLC. You can simply add the IO module to the back plane, generally while it is powered down, and then power the plc up. You should get an error LED indicator on the PLC. Go online with CX-Programmer and double click on the IO table in the project workspace window, the PLC IO table window should pop up. Make sure the PLC is in program mode and select create from the options menu, the PLC will transfer the correct IO table from the PLC to CX-Programmer. After that perform an options verify and save the CX-Programmer project. You can check that the table registered properly by powering down the PLC and then powering it back up. The error LED indicator on the PLC should not be lit.

I have another question. After following the instructions of Foada everythings works, but in the final step when I powering down the PLC and then powering it back I get the error LED again.

It seems the new configuration is not storage in the memory card.

Any ideas?

Best Regards,

Ching

I don't know what setup you are running but the IO table should stay in the PLC memory on power down provided the battery is good. If the battery is not working you will need to transfer the setup to the external storage card if you have one. Can you tell me if you are getting a battery error?

Thanks for your answer!!!

Well, there's no a battery error. And we have a memory card in the PLC.

Do you have the steps to transfer the setup to the external storage?

I may have left a step out. After you create the IO table, perform a verify and save, you should tranfer the IO table back to the PLC from the Options menu in the PLC IO table window. Basically the PLC has a "real" IO table that it gets everytime it starts up and a "registered" IO table that is stored and compared to the "real" IO table. When you transfer the IO table back to the PLC you are updating the "registered" IO table. I am not sure if you need to store the IO table on the memory card with the CJ1M or not but if you need to transfer to the memory card you can access it from the main CX-Programmer window PLC/Partial Transfer menu.

Ok,

I will try. Thanks again for your help.
