Hi
I am modeling a circular reinforced concrete tank.
I need to have masses assigned to joints moving only along the shell's normal axis. For example, if the shell has it's plan on the 1-3 axis, the mass should be modeled as if it has a restrain for the translations on the 1 and 3 axis. The objective is so that calculating the seismic forces, the inertia forces due to that mass are only applied on the normal direction of the shell. If the seismic action is on the parallel direction of the shell, there shouldn't be any forces generated due to that mass. If the direction of the seismic action is between the perpendicular and parallel direction of the shell, the force should according to the cosin of the angle.
I'm sorry if my description is somehow confusing, but what's the best way to solve this?
