Hello everyone.

I am currently working on NX 7.5 and have a question on adding part weight to a drawing. I have no NX experience, but I am well versed in SolidWorks and SolidEdge. This being said, in either of these programs I can apply a material to the part and the weight will show up on the drawing via a custom property. Being a newbie, is there an easy way to do this in NX? Thanks!

As mentioned in the first of the referened links in the above response, in NX 8.0 you can now have a complete set of Mass Property attributes created automatically showing not only the weight of your model, but also it volume, surface area, density, material, etc. Once created these attributes can be referenced by notes, cells in tabular notes, etc.

This attribute is not present in assembly.
In our drawings we put the weight in the title block.
Please resolve this issue in some NX 8 MR.

Thank you...

Using NX 8 and TC8.3

Create an Expression linked to the Mass attribute in the master part and then in the Drawing create your note linked to the Expression in the Component part.

Sorry John,
I'm asking of assembly, not of parts.
Parts have mass attribute, but assembly no.
If is possible, please attach a simple assembly to understand the procedure.

Thank you...

NX does not support an attribute-based solutions for the mass properties of an Assembly. You can use Measure Bodies to take a 'snap-shot' of sorts. It will give you an accurate set of data for the assembly, even if the components are modified, however, it will not account for any additional components or if an existing component is replaced by new one.

John,
can I open an ER for support an attribute-based solutions for the mass properties of an Assembly or you think it's very difficult to implement ?

Thank you...

Thanks for all of the responses. I will create the expression for this property.

Yes, please open the ER. Difficult or not, if it has value it should at least be given consideration based on the reported need, which what an ER indicates, that there is a definite need.
