This is probably a very simple question for many of you. We are building two back blades for snow plowing. Our hydraulic circuit is very simple, consisting of a double-acting 12VDC power unit and cylinder. This gives us power up/down. Any suggestions for circuit design to add a "float" mode, so we will have power up, gravity down and power down?

It can be easily done, several industrial or mobile hydraulic equipment manufacturers offer valves set up this way. Good luck, Maytag

Can you put a chain connection between the lift and the cylinder, like done on front mounted plows? simpler

The chain is not an option, as it wouldn't allow for down pressure. Thank you for the link to Brand's website. I didn't mention the last requirement of the valving being 12VDC solenoid. We would like the entire power unit to be self-contained and easily removable from the truck. This leaves us with electric valves with just wiring going to the cab, no hydraulic hoses. Thanks again for the help!
