I have an application that I want a mixer/pressure vessel for.
I need to mix EPDM rubber based adhesive (in pellet form) with PCBTF solvent.
The mixing temperature in the pressure vessel would be 90 oC. Hence the pressure vessel would need to have a water jacket.
The mixer would need to have an agitator to help break down the EPDM rubber.
The flash point of the solvent would be 42oC.
The made-up adhesive solution needs to be stirred at all times in order to keep it in solution. Otherwise the adhesive will go bad and hard.
The sequence of events as I see it would be:
Put in 30% EPDM adhesive into mixer
Draw vacuum
Blow in nitrogen air blanket
Put in 70% PCBTF solvent into mixer (not sure of the best way to add it in)
Start agitator
Be able to take sample from mixer to measure viscosity or measure viscosity in mixer once mixed
Keep agitator running 24 hrs/per day once mixed in order to keep in solution.
I am not sure of the working pressure that would be generated inside the mixer. How can I determine this??
How much vacuum should I draw
How much nitrogen should I purge in.
Is there a company that can supply this complete system.
What safety equipment should I have on the vessel
I guess the vessel needs to be explosion proof.
The capacity of the vessel will be around 100 litres.
I would appreciate help/advice with this application
