I have one of these (actually it's the 1200D)
ADIC DAT changer 1200C.
I am new to robotics, but I have played with electronics and built a fair few kits over the years. I am thinking of adapting this DAT device as a CD/DVD changer for duplicating disks in about five drives. It has two stepper motors, on X and Y axis, with not a large amount of travel over the vertical. It also has a solenoid to actuate the clamp. That is also quite suitable for clasping disks.
What I wonder, is the chance of figuring out if the in built controller would be worth keeping, and if so how to go about finding out it's control codes. I have a nice little sideline with (legitimate) use for a disk copying robot, so I hope it isn't biting off too much.
Any help greatly appreciated
