I am doing a parking lot for a company that will be bringing in 53' transport trucks with bobcat trailers stacked to the limit. I am looking for suggestions on how much and what kind of agregate I should be using. Also cost is an issue here. The sub base is a sandy fill. The whole area has been shaved down from a much higher grade. How many inches and what kind of agregate. Your input would be much appreciated. I also need to keep cost in mind. Thanks

Ever hear the cliche about "You can have it fast. you can have it cheap, and you can have a high quality end product, BUT you can only have two out of the three at any one time??? As a suggestion, Re read your post and see where your apparent emphasis is, then possibly re avaluate your priorities.

I get the impression that perhaps you are not an engineer. A forum is not the location to get a pavement section design. You don't give enough information to offer much in the way of suggestions, either.

In order to design a pavement, one needs to know loads,frequency of loads, expected serviceable life of the pavement, whether it will be surfaced or unsurfaced, what materials are available, whether it is subject to freeze-thaw considerations, what the drainage conditions are at present and how they will change with the pavement addition, where the water table is, and probably a few other items I've left out doing this in a hurry.

Get with a local pavement design group to give you some assistance. There are plenty of competent pavement design professionals in Ontario. Two that I've worked with in the past in that area are JEGEL and Trow.
