I work for a small civil engineering firm in Western Montana and I need some advice on a project that we are working on; keep in-mind I am new to this field and I have been instructed by my PMs to do this research, but I will answer any questions that may arise as clearly as I can.
The project in question is a vaulted sidewalk, in which we are responsible for the design of the topping slab. Due the nature of existing buildings and location of the project we are left with some design constraints. We are only allowed to have a 2-inch thick topping slab above the structural slab and waterproof membrane. The location of the project is in Butte, MT, which has an elevation of 5700 ft and has a current temperature of -5, which is common; we won't be constructing during the winter, however the extreme climate will have effects in the long term.
I am looking for any recommendations on mix design, additives (such as fiber?), jointing vs. allowable spacing, and anything else that I may not have mentioned.
