Advice whether to buy spare parts or new spare transformer 55 MVA after 17 years

Hi

We have 2 power generation plants with 2 import/export Transformers 55MVA 11kV/66kV with on load tap changer.
We do not have any spare parts for the time being. We have some corrosion issue as we are near the sea.

Do you advise to buy some spare parts or a new transformer? Replace the more corrodded one. Then refurbished old transformer & keep as spare?
What spare parts do you recommend to buy? Thanks

How old is the transformer? Most transformers are designed for at least a 30 year life. Are you pushing that?
At least here replacement transformers, or new for that case, have a three year lead time.
As I recall, rewind transformers tend to be less reliable.
Pick your poison, but there is no best answer, just a solution you can live with.

I like the plan of a new transformer followed by refurbishment in turn of the existing transformers.

A 17-year old transformer should have a lot of life expectancy, assuming it hasn't been severely overloaded or seen a large number of through faults. Corrosion could be an issue if involves the tank or radiators. LTCs require routine maintenance but can have a long life with proper care.

Lead times for new transformers are shockingly long these days.
