Hi Everyone,

When manufacturing many parts of the same type in V5 R17, with advanced machining. What is the best practice for reproducing a program on many similar parts with slight differences. These parts are ribs for wings, also the V5 models are supplied by the customer.

There might be more ways here are a few. if the parts are so similar and once you made one program use 'Newfrom' to copy the same program to a diff. location and swap out the geometry with the new geometry and re-link all the M.O's to the new geometry. (be careful while you copy you have to copy the program and all files associated with it to the new locationa and delete what you don't need otherwise it will screw you) Another method is by creating Catalog document. You could also use publishing and swap the part and re-link the geometry. If you are trying to save time by not having to relink all the similar geo. from the previous part then the best way would be publinsing the initial part and program to the publish geo. bring in the second part locate it on top of the fist one and keep the initial M.O and create just the changes but this way you will have multiple parts in the same document and should never confuse with what you are currently working with.

Probably there are other ways that I am not aware of ....

Regards
