Sep 24, 2009 #2 PeteDB Mechanical Apr 7, 2008 36 Just a guess. But if CH means Carburized & Hardened then the 8 could be the quality before CH and the 13 could be the quality after CH. Often the process is to hob the gear, heattreat it, and then finish grind. Upvote 0 Downvote
