Experts,

In a variable primary flow chilled water system (air cooled), total frictional loss is 6.5 bar as per calculation. Is this same as chilled water system working pressure, or different?

Thanks in advance

almost 100 psi friction losses? are you sure? it will be the pressure your pump requires but depending on the system it won't be the pressure at all points in the loop. You need to provide more information (i.e open or closed) expansion tank location, elevation difference throughout the loop, etc.

Working pressure is measured relative to ambient so it would be fill pressure plus your pump contribution (depending on where you are looking at it). Typically working pressure is used to describe how much pressure a device can handle and is designed for.

Imagine a pump at the bottom of tall building. You are pumping away from your expansion tank and your fill pressure is 40 psi. Your pump provides 30 psi to overcome friction losses (assuming a closed system) your pressure on the discharge of the pump would be 70 psi relative to ambient. On the suction side, 40 psi differential. As you move a way from the pump the pressure gets lower due to static (level rise) and flow losses...
