Air Cooled Heat Exchanger with Flanged Cover Analysis (ASME VIII-2): SolidWorks Simulation Solver

Hi,

I'm performing an analysis of an Air Cooled Heat Exchanger with Flanged Cover on SolidWorks Simulation.

Due to the flanged cover I have to impose a contact interaction between the plates of the air cooled and the flanged cover, that took much more time than a bonded contact simulation.

1) What is the best solver in SolidWorks Simulation in order to solve that type of analysis and reduce the simulation time?

2) Where can I find the exact torque to apply to the bolts?

3) If anyone has already analyzed this component on SolidWorks Simulation, do they have any other recommendations?

Thank you!

Hi,

1. SolidWorks Analysis Solvers:

2. Shigley's Mechanical Engineering Design, Chapter 8.
Pressure Vessel Design Manual, Deniss Moss, Chapter 3.

3. Use shell elements if its possible.
Use symmetry and sub-modelling of the closure and shell.

I see you have a lot of question regarding SolidWorks Simulation, I think that the best option is yo contact your local vendor and ask for help.

Thank you for your help IdanPV, I will contact my vendor.

Can I use foundation bolt built in SolidWorks Simulation due to the geometry of the flange?

Have you ever simulated this componente with SW Sim?
