Any thoughts on the compliance with the 2015 IBC about using equations presented in the AISC Specification 360-10 since the specification is part of the code but the commentary is not? Specifically I am looking at using CI3.2 for the evaluation of composite beams with studs.

I see no issue with it so long as the equations are not in direct contradiction to the Code requirements and the principles of mechanics are satisfied. It is no different than turning to a good steel textbook or other published references for additional guidance. The AISC Specification is not a 'cookbook' that covers every conceivable scenario.
