AL6XN tubing

I'm looking for some sources of Sanitary tubing in AL6XN.

My first quote was a little shocking. I know it's a lot more, but that is INSANE!

Any suggestions?
I would need the tubing, fittings, and the welding disposables.

A lot more than what? Consider other similar alloys such as Outokumpu 254 SMO or Incoloy 25-6Mo; that may help the price competition.

Are you sure the high nickel content won't affect your process fluid?

How about titanium?

Sorry SJones...We typically use 316LSS, polished to 20RA ID/OD. Most of it is .065" wall.

Hastelloy C2000 is another option, but I doubt that is available in thin wall tubing too.

The only people stocking tubing and fitting for sanitary, in any 6%Mo alloy, is CSI.
If you found the price shocking then you haven't been following metals prices. The raw material itself is at least 5 times the price of 316L. And it is a bear to manufacture.

What polish are you looking for?
What type of failure are you trying to prevent?

I expected 5 times the price.

It's just a bitter pill for my customer to swallow, and was looking to see if there was any competition for the CSI pricing.

You might find tubing in other alloys, but it would be unpolished. And you won't find fittings.

Mac, there are usually a lot of better alloy options in these hygienic systems. If CSCC is the issue then 2205 is a good choice, if crevice corrosion is the problem then 317 or 2205 is usually enough better to help.
The problem is that no one is making polished tubing for hygienic service in these other grades, and no one is stocking the fittings.
The actuall amount of tubing used in such service is rather small. The market will not support too many different alloys.

There are only seven or eight mfg of hygienic tubing in the world. There are really only a handfull of people forming fittings. Everyone else just buys blanks and finishes them.

Parker Hannifin's Instrumentation Products Division makes 6Mo tube fittings, but I don't think they have them in sanitary designs. They got into this for North Sea drilling platforms about 15 years ago.
