Hi all,

I need some references for deflection limits of aluminum members like RHS, SHS, so on. (Like those given in AS3600 L/250 ....)

I looked up for AS/NZS 1664.1 but nothing addresses on that matter. Any suggestion would be great [2thumbsup]

I'd probably use the stock standard deflection limits (ie from AS1170 and AS3600 etc). They've been around for a long time and for good reason.

Either that or situation specific limits, such as glazing/cladding maximum curvature/deflection limits.

AS1170n gives suggested limits which are then over-ridden in most cases by materials design codes. if the materials design code gives none, then AS1170 and engineering logic apples!

Thanks for your comments,

Actually I need it for laboratory experiments on small SHS aluminium section, I reckon then I stick to AS 1170.

With regard to one of my previous posts that you commented, do you happen to have any bidge design/assessment per AS? I appreciate if you could provide some insights on it.
