Allowable Lateral Distance between Pipelaying Barge and Platform

Case: Pipelaying by Barge Near an Existing Platform (the barge is anchor handling type)

Question: what is allowable lateral distance between pipelaying barge and existing platform?

At least the minimum lateral displacement (and pipeline heading) should be enough to allow the barge to deploy dead man anchor (so the dimension of barge plus some meters could be enough). Consider that anchor pattern can be adapted to pass over that zone. It's not a good idea to have a lot of space between pipeline and platform because the dimensions of spool growing up (and installation cost also).

Mostly dependent on max anchorage drift, wind and current speeds and water depth. What you can do in 10 ft of water is a lot different than what you can do at 500 ft.

However to justify the MWS and Client, is there any reference to explain on the allowable distance, or it is only based on experience?

What's the maximum horizontal displacement when your anchor line is straight due to current and wind forces on the barge verses the catenary shape when it is only carrying its own chain weight.

Based on RAO of the moored barge the maximum lateral movement is about 1.5 m.
