I have a small structure where we are going to use stainless steel plates to make I and T shapes to use in the frameing. Is there a standard for determining allowable stresses in stainless?...would it be reasonable to follow the AISC steel spec?

For stainless steel framing, you might want to check directly with AISC and local building Codes to determine if they have specifications for using stainless steel. I have seen specifications and building Codes regarding use of stainless steel, although it was more applicable to decorative versus structural.
