Can anyone tell me the allowable stress of A106-B pipe in ASME B31.3? I know that allowabe stress of this material in ASME Boiler and Pressure vessel is 17.1 ksi. And I found that it becomes 15.0 ksi in ASME B31.1. I need to know the allowabe stress in B31.1 while I don't have the CODE.

A-106, Grade B is 20,000 up to 400F, 18,900 at 500F and down from there.

TD2K,

Thank you very much for your quick response. It really helped me.

kyong,

TD2K's answer is correct. I have a additional comment for your question.

; All code materials have the same mechanical properties (e.g., tensile strength or yield strength at room temperature), but the codes of equipment or facilities have suggested the different allowable stress values because the design safety factors per each code are different. The most importance for selection of allowable stress values is to define the applicable code for the faclities in advance.

Good luck
