Alternate method to add text to repeat region 1

We use a repeat region in a table for our BOM data. I would like to add a "free form" column to the table for the user to add part kitting information, but of course this can not be done. It appears that the best method to add text is to write a relation, but this is not practical from the users stand point. Are there any other options to add text to a repeat region? We are using ProE 2001.
