alternator wiring

hi there i am new to this site and need help wiring an alternator up from a wind turbine

The L-terminal must be conencted to a control-lamp, over a switch and to battery + . (the switch is like your key in your car)
The EXC-terminal must be connected to the "control-lamp-side" of the switch (it must be supplied with + over the switch)
that was sent to me from lucas and it confuses me

would someone be able to reword what is written above in simple terms (control lamp ????)

please help me

Sounds like a pretty standard automotive alternator system.

What needs to be done is to send two sources of battery voltage + to the alternator terminals in addition to the main output connection.

In this case both are switched by your "ignition" switch. Other designs do not require the EXC wire to be switched, but this Lucas apparently does.

One wire runs direct from switch to the EXC terminal and the other runs to the "L" terminal through a small pilot lamp of the correct voltage for your system. This indicator lamp will glow red if the switch is on and the alternator isn't making voltage. Once the alternator excites and voltage builds up, the lamp should go out unless the rpm of the alternator drops very low. The lamp staying on even with adequate rpm would indicate alternator failure.
