Hi,

can anyone recommend a good text from which I can get the relative alumina/silica ratios of various clay types i.e. kaolinite, montmorillionite etc etc?

Thanks

Might find something in Scott (1960); Mitchell's book and Winterkorn also wrote a bit about clay minerology.

Dana's manual of mineralogy provides all chemical compositions for all minerals. It is the long-standing standard for mineralogists.
