Aluminum and Lead Compatibility

Hello Everyone,

Generally in Underground Electric Cable, Lead Sheathing is provided over the Copper Wire Screen. Instead of Copper Wires why can't we use Aluminum Wires and provide Lead Sheath over it?

According to this article, there is possibility of galvanic corrosion when Lead and Al are used. But does corrosion take place just by placing two metals in contact (and electrolyte being water/ moisture underground)

Please let me know compatibility of Lead with Copper, Lead with Aluminium.
