Aluminum Plates for Fixtures & Jigs 4

We use 6061-T651 aluminum plates (1" to 1 1/2" thick) plates for simple jigs and fixtures. We are looking for a lower cost alternative - if there is one. The strength properties are not critical, but the material should be at least fair in machinability. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Drill or waterjet a bunch of lightening holes if you like.

Have you investigated cast aluminum tooling plate? Here is one product offered by Alcoa:

I agree with TVP. Look into cast aluminum tooling plate.

I've seen K100 used where the primary function is a light weight mounting plate.
