Hello All,

I am trying to create an analysis feature to measure the transformation from one coodrinate system to another.

It seems I cannot create this either using the "Add Feature" button in Measure window, or by creating the Analysis Feature first. I would like to be able to plot the 12 values output by this analysis (a 3x3 rotation matrix plus a translation vector) separately, within a motion analysis.

What I am trying to do:

I want to animate a somewhat complex linkage system using the (free) PovRay raytracer to do the rendering. I have exported all of the parts separately as SLP files, and converted them to *.inc files using slp2pov. I can get great results with a static assembly, but now I would like to be able to animate the assembly. If I export each part relative to its default csys, I can transform the part using the variables described above and it will be in its correct position.

If I can get these parameters plotted separately for each part, I can plug these in as arrays in my PovRay file and happily animate my mechanism.

Now, it seems that I cannot create this analysis freature, which is really hindering my progress. Does anyone know of a way around this, or have any other suggestions for that matter, about means to animate my mechanism in PovRay?

Thanks in advance
Mark

Marc,

I made several animation with LightWave using parts form ProE. But I created all joints in LightWave for IK.

Now, if you want to have the matrix transformation, go under measure and choose Transform from the Combo Box. Then select the 2 cys (the last one must be your assy origin)and you'll have the matrix transformation for your part

I'll come back tomorrow with the matrix transformation equations.

What about the *.frm file that you can generate from mechanism? that contains the positional information for every part in a mechanism assembly. It is what ProductView Express uses to animate assemblies in that tool.
