I have an old copy of Femap (V 9.2) and it is only active as 300 node demo (no license dongle). I created a small model, but when I submit the analysis it errors with no license available. Isn't it possible to analyze a model and get output using the demo mode? If so please explain how.

Used to be, tho I never got the 300 node version to run, I have the 100 or 200 node limit. Try running the bracket demo, or try just running a 2 node problem.

There also seems to be an issue with XP, something to do with the way it opens DOS windows.

Hi

What solver do you have included? (MSC/NE/NX/?)

It's MSC if it is the same CD I was sent.

yes, but didn't FeMap recently change their licensing, adding their own flavour of NASTRAN; maybe you need to download a new demo ?

Hi again

I don't think it's MSC simply because the final MSC.Nastran for Windows was v2005 and that came with Femap v9.0. I'm not absolutely sure but nearly. I think the demo needed some kind of temporary license file. An e-mail to MSC was required (I think) and that door is prabably closed today since N4W no longer exists.

If it's NE it should be possible to run. Or contact NEiSoftware to get a new demo version. As far as I know it still exists. I have a demo option on my Femap at least.

As for NX, I don't know. But since Femap has a demo option I can't see what NX Nastran shouldn't have it as well. But I don't know for sure.

Thomas
