Does anyone have a good source that outlines the basic set up of using a stiffness matrix and/or finite difference approach for design tall pressure vessels? I assume both the in-house and commercially available software for pressure vessel design must use an approach like this? Basically, dividing the column into sections (thickness/diameter/loadings) and then using an overall stiffness matrix approach to solve the live loadings (wind/seismic). Years ago I saw a paper on the subject (I think it may have been from CB&I), but I can't for the life of me find it now.
Thanks.
Thanks.
