I have had some request to use all-thread anchor bolts on a project that is galvanized. I just wanted to get your guy's opinion on using all-thread instead of using normal round rod, with the ends threaded. Assuming material strength is adequate, is their any reason not to use the all-thread?

Have used both, no problem with either.

One problem that might occur is if you need a certain length of rod unbonded for ductility. The all-thread would need to be sleeved, as greasing it would not work. The concrete would still bond to the threads, even greased.

Otherwise, should not be a problem that I can see.

If you need ductility, it would be best to use all-thread with a sleeve. Inelastic behavior will be concentrated in the threaded portion of the rod due to the reduced section, so it is good to provide a long threaded length.

Thanks to everyone who has replied. I could not see where it would have been an issue either, with the excesption of the bonding issue for ductility. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.
