It looks like a good thing, but I wonder about the companies that are currently working on several versions behind the current release. Will they get hit hard ?

Congratulations, we are all being inducted into the beta tester program!

Not just inducted, but we're paying to do so. LOL

From Rapid Dimensioning to Rapid Release - hopefully the helper dialogs won't show up during installation!

I remember the good old days when Unigraphics was sent to the user on tape.
No, I don't miss those days but things sure have changed.

Now instead of shipping the bits on magnetic media to you, the bits are transferred from their magnetic media to yours via a fancy morse code.

Speaking of Unigraphics being delivered on tape:

And before that, UNIAPT was delivered on paper tape. Even after Unigraphics was released, for years post-processors were still delivered on paper tape while the rest of UG was on mag-tape:

And starting in 1989, you could get Unigraphics on CD-ROM's:

Come to think of it, how is this any different than what's been going on for the past 4+ years other than Siemens will be ending support for older versions earlier? Within the past 10 years or so, they stopped the practice of introducing new commands only during major releases - the What's New guides started appearing under minor release versions (for example, NX 11.0.1, NX 11.0.2, etc.).

I think it will more difficult time to determine which .prt will work with what continuous release update. There has to be a version, revision or something to set the different updates apart. Just tyring to upload a part for discussion on this forum, A part in NX11, more than likely open up if you are in NX11 and newer. In the future if you upload a part, what update are you on. If I am updated to the latest release, and say another person for example is on the first update, will this person still be able to open the PRT file?

Like what happened with NX 11 and 11.0.1?

If someone used the Combine command in NX 11.0.1 , you could not open that part in NX 11
