Here's a good one- I would like to create an animation of all of the sketch work and build steps involved in the creation of one of my Solidworks models for part of a presentation.

Does anyone know of a way to do this? The HARD way would be to produce multiple still images of each step and string them together into an animation in something like Adobe Premier, but that could take quite some time. I'm envisioning something that couod rifle through the build tree and record each result into some kind of video file, i.e.; AVI, WMV, MPEG, etc.

Thanks,
Scott

I use CamStudio for this. I start recording at creating a part, then stop recording when finish. Then at my user group meetings I play the video and put it on a server for all to enjoy.

Wow thanks for the fast response! It looks like Macromedia has purchased the rights to this software and is now marketing it under the name "RoboDemo" for $500. [surprise] [thumbsdown] Most of the shareware links I found have been disabled but there are still a few places left where you could download the free version. [thumbsup2]

Thanks,
Scott

Try typing in "camstudio" by itself without anything else. Then click on record and see if it works.

Yes I downloaded the program and am testing it now. Works cool so far. It may do what a want but I'm not sure yet. If I work with the pause button it can hopefully cut out the build-time scale bar delays while SW builds different steps. Still messing with it.

Good, hope it works for you. If I find anything else I'll let you know.
